Mrs Fry's February Blog

The beginning of February has seen a range of weather at Corsham Primary; from icy temperatures through to the beautiful snow enjoyed by all and now some milder temperatures and morning light hinting at the Spring time which is slowly making its way to us.  Throughout the change in temperatures there has been plenty of warmth in school, as it is always a hive of activity at Corsham Primary.

We have had our governors visiting classes to have a look at the fantastic learning going on, as well as hosting a group of Bristol head teachers wishing to learn more about Primary Maths Mastery.  The children always play a key part in these events, from helping to show our visitors around the school to displaying their enthusiasm for Maths, Art or PE activities in lessons.  It is always a privilege to see their skills and confidence growing as they explain their learning or talk about our school to others, which gives a real insight into how children view their education.

In our assemblies we are focussing on Unicef Children’s rights and have reflected on all of the different ways that the children help shape their school and have their voices heard.  To this end we are all looking forward to when the ‘Resilient Recyclers’ run Corsham Primary for the day at the end of term 3; following their success in the democratic process of the elections in Year 5.  Today we celebrated the engineering genius of Isambard Kingdom Brunel through the eyes of Year 2, hosting their very own version of BBC’s quiz show ‘Pointless’.  Seeing their enthusiasm and personalities shine as they relayed his key achievements to us through the clever premise of the TV show was a delight to behold and reminds all of us why we do the job we do; to enable all children to shine.
