Message from our Headteachers ...

Image of the Corsham Primary Dragon

We are saying goodbye and good luck to Mrs Georgia Wahl, who is going to transfer from Corsham Primary to Queen's Crescent in September.  We wish our other leavers - Mrs Fulluck and Mrs Laming, all the very best too.  Broadwood are looking forward to welcoming Mr Breese to 5/6B.

One of our fabulous catering team at Pound Pill, Mrs Cheryl Lister, has left Chartwells to go and live in Cyprus with her family and start a huge new adventure; Mrs Lister has looked after all our children and staff, providing delicious food at lunchtimes and we will miss her.  Good luck in sunnier climes Mrs Lister!

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our fabulous PTA; Maxine, Georgia and Katja, plus all the marvellous parent volunteers who have again worked tirelessly this year to provide fantastic fundraising experiences to benefit our children.  They have supported events such as the Year 6 Bowood treat and books for the school, to name but a couple, and we are very grateful for all their hard work.

To all of our fabulous Year 6 children, we hope that you have a wonderful holiday, that your transition into secondary school goes smoothly, and you enjoy yourselves - making new friends and taking on, with enthusiasm, the next stage of your education journey.

In this last message from us before the summer holidays, we want to wish all our parents, carers, children and staff a happy and restful break - we hope the sun shines ALL summer and look forward to seeing everybody bright and ready for learning on 4 September!

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the DfE school attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

Overall attendance in July across both sites 95.16%

Unauthorised absences in July across both sites: 1.73%

Children late to school in July across both sites 1.62%

If you need to report your child's absence, please telephone and leave a message on the office answerphone giving the reason for absence.  This is important for our daily registers which must reflect accurately, why a child is not in school.  Also, if your child will not be attending school due to a planned event, please request a Leave of Absence form from the school office (these are also available on our website at the bottom of the home page).

After a lot of hard work, we are delighted to announce that we have achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools - a National Standard for positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.  We are delighted that our positive development and culture of ensuring the wellbeing of staff, children and relationships with parents and carers shines through everything that we do.  Well done and congratulations to everyone who was involved with helping us achieve this fabulous award.

Eco-Schools Green Flag Award

Congratulations!!!

Fantastic work Corsham Primary School!

We are very pleased to tell you that you and your Eco-Committee at Corsham Primary School have been successful in meeting the requirements for the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.

We reviewed your application and noted the following:

It's wonderful that you have appointed such a representative Eco-Committee. This shows your school’s excellent commitment to both the programme and the eco-cause. It’s great to see that you had such a group of eager, enthusiastic volunteers. It was also wonderful to see that they were supported by two members of staff. We love that you kept minutes from your meetings and that they helped to track, guide and prompt your activity, and thank you for including the excellent example. It was wonderful to see how completing your Environmental Review helped to raise the level of awareness in your school and helped your Eco-Committee to identify the issues and spot gaps in your school's existing environmental activity. But equally important is that it helped you to recognise the great work that you were already doing. This helps to keep up the good activity whilst making you feel empowered to do different things. We love this! Your Action Plan shows that your Eco-Committee have carefully considered how they can involve their entire school in their planned Eco-Schools’ activities to achieve maximum impact and raise awareness amongst their school community. We love the range of activities that you and your Eco-Committee planned for delivery. The fact that they cover both indoor (taking part in local community Eco projects, promoting healthier meal options and a whole school well-being award) and outdoor (creating a sensory garden with bug hotels and bat boxes, a ‘no-mow May’, growing your own vegetables and providing compost bins) activities is excellent. It was also great to see accountability and a monitoring scheme clearly marked in your Action Plan. Your Curriculum Link examples are imaginative, practical and fun, making environmental education accessible and engaging; well done! We’re really impressed at how you’ve linked environmental issues to a variety of curriculum areas. This is a great example of layering in sustainability and climate change into your studies. We loved reading about how you had incorporated learning about global issues not only into the Geography and Science Curriculum (most common ones) in your school, but also into other areas such as Art, Food Technology and even such key Early Years topics as Understanding the World. Great work! Your Eco-Board is great. Your board is incredibly visual and engaging and promotes your work in a very attractive way. We loved seeing how active your Eco-Committee was in communicating their activities school-wide with both assembly and class feedback and use of posters and videos, and the school social media as well as the Eco-board itself. These all combine to make a great approach! We love that your pupils have taken their great work beyond the school gates and into their local area with a wonderful community litter-pick, caring for a local community orchard, and even entering the Corsham in Bloom: Best Eco-School competition – superb! We are also certain that your pupils will have greatly benefitted from your involvement with such outside organisations as these, and your local Environmental Officer. Your Eco-Code is really smart and concise. It's a great message and its punchy nature will definitely help it be processed by everyone passing by your Eco-Board. I hope you and your Eco-Committee take great pride in your achievements. When listed it's surprising how many there are – however, the improvements to your school environment with the recycling and healthier eating initiatives and, most of all, your terrific school well-being award and new sensory garden (we loved those) all nicely stand out! Congratulations to everyone for the great work you have managed to do, earning your Green Flag with style. You should all be very proud of your work and the application you have submitted!
