Welcome to our November edition

Message from the Headteachers ...

Image of the Corsham Primary Dragon

Welcome back to school after the October half-term; we are looking forward to seeing many of you this afternoon/evening at our Open Evening where teachers can discuss your children's progress.

We were delighted to gift a great deal of food to Corsham Churches Food Bank as a result of donations sent in by parents and carers for our harvest assemblies last term.  Thank you to everyone who kindly sent in non-perishable food for us to donate to our community.

It is hard to believe that we are in Term 2 already; all our children who started in September, have now settled in well and made new friends.  As we run up to the Christmas month, who knows what will be going on at Corsham Primary ...!

You will have received a message recently about the children's Christmas lunch on 18 December.  If you would like to order a school lunch for your child/ren on this day, please can we ask you to do so in advance using the link provided in the message.  This helps with our ordering process and means that everything can run smoothly in the lunch hall at this fun lunchtime.  We request that Christmas lunch orders are received by 29 November.  Thank you.

Attendance

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the recently updated DfE School Attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

October attendance across both sites was 95.68%

Unauthorised absences across both sites was 0.90%

Number of late arrivals across both sites was 0.65%

If you need to report your child's absence, please telephone and leave a message on the office answerphone giving the reason for absence.  This is important for our daily registers which must reflect accurately, why a child is not in school.  Also, if your child will not be attending school due to a planned event, please request a Leave of Absence form from the school office or find one at the bottom of our home page on the website.

OSMINGTON BAY RESIDENTIAL TRIP - YEAR 6

Everyone had the best time at Osmington Bay at the end of last term.  Here are some pictures and write-ups from the group leaders.

Group 1

Our group were a wonderfully calm and kind bunch, who made the most of all the activities.

The children enjoyed getting to know each other and made good friends. They overcame some huge challenges, in particular when doing the Trapeze, the Giant Swing and Climbing. We all loved the sea air and the views were amazing!

Mrs Vines

Group 2

Wow! We had a fabulous, action-packed three days when the children showed enormous amounts of support for each other, displayed huge amounts of bravery and made new friends. They showed amazing accuracy when hitting the targets in archery and determination when climbing up the wall. Everyone had lots of fun playing areo ball and swinging on the big swing. It was fantastic to see them all approach each challenge with enthusiasm and joy! Well done Group 2!

Mrs Ryan

Group 3

We had a thrilling, action-packed three days by the sea at Osmington Bay. We tried our hand at dragon boating, climbing, archery, aeroball, laser tag and, of course, the big swing! Group 3 showed lovely teamwork and friendship throughout the trip, working together and cheering each other on. We had an absolute blast!

Miss Parson

Group 4

It was a real joy to spend time with this fantastic group of children at Osmington Bay. They all had a great time completing a range of activities including climbing, laser tag, aero ball and the giant swing. As well as trialling and developing skills as individuals, such as archery, they also worked together as a team to successfully protect a water balloon from bursting by designing a safety device on the first night. Huge congratulations from Mr Breese and Mrs Metcalfe.

Group 5

We had such an amazing time. The children used great relationship skills from day one, building on current friendships and forming new ones, with plenty of chatting and laughter. It was wonderful to see the support they gave each other. They were all super resilient and pushed themselves to their personal limits, astounding me with everyone managing to get into a harness. Dragon Boating was a brilliant start to our activities, with fantastic support from the side too. Beautiful scenery was a bonus whilst we bounced in Aeroball, shot arrows, ran around in laser tag, climbed walls, swung on the Giant Swing and leapt from poles on the Trapeze. Thanks to everyone for making such brilliant memories.

Mrs Candlin

Group 6

It was an absolute pleasure to have these wonderful children in my group. We had a fantastic few days enjoying the lovely sea air.  I was really impressed with their team work, how they supported each team member and, most of all, their resilience and "giving it a go" attitude!!! Everybody achieved something they didn’t think they could, which was fantastic!! Well done Team 6 you smashed it!

Mrs Burton

Group 7

An amazing few days at Osmington Bay with the brilliant Group 7.  They showed great resilience and determination; it was lovely to see them encouraging and supporting each other when facing new challenges.  From dragon boat racing, to the giant swing, playing aero ball and abseiling, they tried it all and made new friends in the process.

Miss Palmer

Group 8

It was a great privilege to go to Osmington Bay with this wonderful group of children. They showed lots of resilience and determination, tackling the various activities and challenges. They had great fun on the giant swing, playing aero ball and chasing each other during laser tag. They also developed their speed and precision whilst climbing and hitting targets. Well done everyone.
