Welcome to our April edition

Message from the Headteachers ...

We welcome the arrival of better weather and spring has definitely sprung in Corsham! We have lots of fun outside learning at our forest school sessions to look forward to throughout April.  Check the calendar on our website for dates.

We are delighted to let you know that Miss Richards and her partner welcomed beautiful baby Holly into the world on Sunday 16 March.  Mum and baby are doing well and enjoying lots of cuddles.
This is wonderful news - congratulations L
aura and Ben.

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Metcalfe, who has been part of the Corsham Primary family of staff (Assistant Deputy Headteacher and Inclusion Manager at Broadwood) for over 12 years.  She has secured a new position in the Behaviour Support Team at Wiltshire Council and will leave us at the end of term.  We wish Mrs Metcalfe all the very best and know she will be fantastic in her new position.

We are also saying goodbye to Mrs Dowd, our Finance Officer, who has been working across both sites; she has taken a new position within the Pickwick Academy Trust as Operations and Procurement Manager.  We hope that she enjoys her new challenges and are very happy that we will continue to see her in the building sometimes!

Our Easter celebrations will be taking place on Thursday 3 April - a Bonnet/Hat Parade and decorated hard-boiled egg competition.  On Friday 4 April, everyone can dress up in their favourite bright spring clothes for non-uniform day.  Remember we break up for the Easter holidays on Friday at the earlier time of 2.30pm.

After the Easter holidays, our Foundation Stage children have trips to Warleigh Lodge Farm to look forward to and at the end of the month, our Year 4 children visit Braeside for their two-day residential trip.

Attendance

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the recently updated DfE School Attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

March attendance across both sites was 94.88%

Unauthorised absences across both sites was 1.22%

Number of late arrivals across both sites was 38%

If you need to report your child's absence, please telephone and leave a message on the office answerphone giving the reason for absence.  This is important for our daily registers which must reflect accurately, why a child is not in school.  Also, if your child will not be attending school due to a planned event, please request a Leave of Absence form from the school office or find one at the bottom of our home page on the website.

World Book Day!

Mrs Parker, alias The Demon Dentist, went to see the kitchen staff ...

Everybody had a superb time on World Book Day (6 March).  We all dressed up as our favourite book characters or in our pj's.  The day was spent concentrating on literacy in all its forms.  Many different books and stories were shared during the day.  It was interesting to see everyone's favourite characters and how much effort they went to with costumes and make-up, wigs, and accessories!
Much fun was had by all.
