Message from the Headteachers ...

We hope that everyone had a very enjoyable Easter break; it is lovely to be back at school. Due to the glorious weather, we have been able to spend a lot more time outside - both learning and at break and lunchtimes.
Mrs Jones (Pound Pill) leaves us next week to begin her maternity leave; we are looking forward to cuddles with her twins and wish her, Mr Jones and Rory all the very best as they get to know their new arrivals.
We are very sad to have said goodbye to Mrs Crew, who left us at the end of last month due to family commitments. We will miss her in 1/2LC and wish her well.
We also say goodbye to Mrs Lingard this month, who will be leaving Broadwood as she has secured a new admin position, and we wish her all the best in her new role over in Chippenham.
We were extremely proud of our Year 4 children who recently spent two days and a night away at Braeside. Everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed working together through many exciting challenges as well as forging friendships with each other across both sites. A lot of tired children arrived back on the Friday, but with big smiles on their faces!
Over the last couple of weeks, in conjunction with the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal charity, we have been visited by wonderful volunteers who are knitting and crocheting poppies to display on the church and in the town, to commemorate the 80th year of the end of World War II. All the children have been shown how to make a poppy to contribute to the appeal, and we are looking forward to seeing the finished result.
Our Year 6 children will be sitting their SATs during the week commencing 12 May, culminating in the traditional CPS celebratory BBQ at lunchtime on Friday 16 May. If your child is in Year 6, please do not book a lunch on this day if you usually order one. Lunch will be provided by the Year 6 team.
Strawberries, Apples and Pears will all be performing their class assemblies at the end of the month - these are always lovely occasions where children can show their parents and carers what they have been learning. (Details on the calendar.)
On Friday 23 May, the children will be running their Indhu Rani afternoon of fun with stalls and games to raise money for the Goodwill Orphanage. This is an initiative completely organised and run by our fantastic children in order to support another child through their education in India.
Half-term is from 26-30 May. School finishes on Friday 23 May at the usual time of 3.10pm.
