Headteacher's Message

As we step into the most magical term of the year, excitement is building across the school while we prepare for our Christmas celebrations and events. Keep your eyes peeled… will the mischievous Peskie Pixies return this year? Watch this space!

Autumn Adventures
We've been treated to a truly spectacular autumn, with vibrant colours lighting up our outdoor spaces. Our children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring nature during their forest school sessions, making the most of the season’s beauty.

Baby News!
We’re thrilled to share that Miss Lucy Organ (Pound Pill office) is expecting her first baby in April! We wish her all the very best for a happy and healthy pregnancy and look forward to sharing more joyful updates in the spring.

New Staff Welcomes
We have welcomed some new staff to our teams – Mrs Duckworth and Mrs Gatrell are job-sharing the cover supervisor roles internally at Pound Pill.  Mrs Gamble has expanded her role to include leading the after-school club at Pound Pill.  We welcome our new staff in their new roles, and hope they will be very happy at Corsham Primary.

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Mr Geoff Biddall, who has taught at Corsham Primary for a number of years, since the start of his teaching career.  As part of the Corsham Primary family, he has been a dedicated and caring teacher.  We wish him well in all of his new adventures ahead.

Lost Property Reminder
Please ensure all coats and uniform items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This helps us return lost items quickly and avoid the dreaded end-of-term mountain of unclaimed clothing!

Remembrance Day Reflections
Several of our Services children visited the Corsham war memorial to lay a wreath and attend a moving service at the Martingate Centre. This annual tradition is always a poignant and respectful moment for our school community.

Anti-Bullying Week: Power for Good
In November, we joined schools across the UK to support Anti-Bullying Week, led by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. This year’s theme, Power for Good, encouraged everyone to take positive action against bullying. Staff and pupils proudly wore odd socks to celebrate our uniqueness and promote kindness and respect.

PTA Disco Delight
A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for organising another fantastic round of school discos! Children dressed to impress and danced the night away. We’re so grateful for all the PTA’s hard work and fundraising throughout the year.

End of Term & Holiday Dates
School will close for the Christmas holidays at 2:30pm on Friday 19 December. We wish all our families a fabulous, restful festive break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 5 January 2026.

Attendance

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the recently updated DfE School Attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

November attendance across both sites was 95%

Unauthorised absences across both sites was 1%

Number of late arrivals across both sites was 0.75%

If you need to report your child's absence, please telephone and leave a message on the office answerphone giving the reason for absence.  This is important for our daily registers which must reflect accurately, why a child is not in school.  Also, if your child will not be attending school due to a planned event, please request a Leave of Absence form from the school office or find one at the bottom of our home page on the website.

Green Flag Eco School Award with Distinction!
We are thrilled to announce that our school has once again earned the prestigious Green Flag Eco School Award — and this year, with Distinction!
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our Eco Council and Eco Buddies, we’ve made incredible strides in sustainability: planting trees, recycling, litter picking, and monitoring our energy use.  This marks our third consecutive year receiving the award, a testament to our school’s ongoing commitment to protecting the planet.
A huge well done to everyone involved — your passion and teamwork are making a real difference!

About - Eco Schools

IQM Award
We are proud to share that we have once again been honoured with the Inclusive School Award.  This prestigious recognition forms the cornerstone of IQM’s accreditation framework, which supports schools in embedding excellence in inclusion, strengthening SEND provision, and cultivating truly inclusive learning environments and classrooms.

The Inclusive School Award celebrates schools which demonstrate a deep and unwavering commitment to inclusion at every level. At our school, inclusion is not just a value—it’s a lived reality. Through inclusive policies, thoughtful teaching strategies, and a nurturing school culture, we ensure that every pupil—regardless of background, need, or ability—has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are absolutely delighted to receive this award once again, and we remain committed to fostering a school community where everyone belongs, and every learner is empowered.

Music Mark of Recognition
Corsham Primary School has been recognised by Swindon Music Service on behalf of GSW Swindon and Wiltshire Hub for the hard work and value that we place on music in our school. For another year running, we have been awarded the Music Mark of Recognition for Ambition and Quality. Music Mark is the UK association for music education, championing and supporting access to music for all children and young people. Music Mark works to support and enable the music education sector to deliver high-quality musical and social outcomes for all children and young people.

We took part in Switch Off Fortnight as part of one of the initiatives organised by our Eco Councillors.  This was a two-week campaign all about saving energy and everyone enjoyed doing their best to switch lights off, turn heating thermostats down, close doors and windows and switch off electric devices.
