Welcome to our March edition

Message from the Headteachers ...

We hope everyone enjoyed a restful February half-term break. It has been lovely to see the first signs of spring appearing around the school grounds—a welcome change after all the winter rain!

We are delighted to share that Corsham Primary has been awarded the Wiltshire Cricket/Chance to Shine School of the Term for Term Three (January–February 2026). We have been given lots of cricket equipment by Wiltshire Cricket for which we are very grateful.

Vickie Hathway commented:

“Staff and children have really embraced the cricket sessions, showing great enthusiasm and a willingness to learn something new. During the KS1 lessons, it has been a pleasure to see the children grow in confidence, improve their skills, and thoroughly enjoy taking part in a new sport during PE.
Our Year 6 children have also engaged brilliantly with the Playground Leaders sessions, and we hope they will continue to inspire others when they have opportunities to share what they’ve learnt.”

Thank you to all parents and carers who attended our recent Open Evening. It is always a pleasure to meet with you, share children’s progress, and spend time together in those valuable one-to-one conversations.

At the end of this month, we will be wishing Miss Lucy Organ a temporary farewell as she leaves the Pound Pill admin team to welcome her baby in early April. We are very much looking forward to hearing her news and meeting her little one once her family is settled.  Ms Katie Haresnape, who is one of our Lunchtime Playworkers, will be taking over Lucy's Administration Role.

We are delighted to congratulate Miss Charnelle Stonham, who is part of our Wraparound Care team, and a Lunchtime Playworker, who has been appointed as our EYFS TA in Pears class.

Last term, we also said a fond goodbye to Mrs Jessica Gamble, who has left her role as TA/Lunchtime Playworker to explore new opportunities. We send her our warmest wishes for the future.

Finally, we are pleased to welcome Mrs Natalie Caveen to our Broadwood teaching team. She is covering class 1/2L during Mrs Lewis’s maternity leave, and we hope she will be very happy as part of the Corsham Primary family.

Attendance

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the recently updated DfE School Attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

February attendance across both sites was 95%

Unauthorised absences across both sites was 1.16%

Number of late arrivals across both sites was 0.78%

If you need to report your child's absence, please telephone and leave a message on the office answerphone giving the reason for absence.  This is important for our daily registers which must reflect accurately, why a child is not in school.  Also, if your child will not be attending school due to a planned event, please request a Leave of Absence form from the school office or find one at the bottom of our home page on the website.
