Welcome to our May edition

Message from the Headteachers ...

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Webb to our Broadwood site as our new Inclusion Manager. She has already been busy introducing herself to parents, carers and members of our staff team. It is wonderful to have her on board, and we are quickly benefiting from her wealth of experience and expertise.

As the weather improves, we are also pleased to be offering even more opportunities for children to enjoy learning and having fun outdoors. Our new Saplings Club at Pound Pill has been a great success, with children from all year groups making full use of the facilities. This invaluable provision is expertly organised by Mrs Griffin and Mrs Pink, providing engaging and enriching experiences for all involved.

Later this month, we will be hosting our much anticipated annual Indhu Rani Afternoon, a vibrant event that brings our school community together for a wonderful cause. Children will be running a range of creative projects to raise money for the Goodwill Orphanage in India, showcasing their enthusiasm, teamwork, and generosity.

The afternoon is always a joyful occasion, enjoyed by children, parents, and relatives alike. We are proud to support the Goodwill Orphanage, knowing that every penny raised is put to excellent use and makes a real difference by helping to educate children in Southern India.

Attendance

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the recently updated DfE School Attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

April attendance across both sites was 95.35%

Unauthorised absences across both sites was 1.39%

Number of late arrivals across both sites was  22%

We have noticed that our percentage of late arrivals is currently higher than we would expect. We would therefore like to remind parents and carers how important it is for children to arrive at school on time, ready to begin their learning day calmly and positively.

If your child is absent, please telephone the school and leave a message on the office answerphone, clearly stating the reason for the absence. This is essential so that our daily registers are accurate and reflect why a child is not in school.

If your child will be absent due to a planned event, we ask that you complete a Leave of Absence form. These are available from the school office or can be found at the bottom of the home page on our website.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep our records accurate and ensuring the best start to the day for all children.
