Corsham Primary Reflects on a successful academic year and prepares for new beginnings ...

As the academic year draws to a close, we want to express our appreciation to pupils, parents, carers, extended families and staff for their contribution to what has been a vibrant and memorable year. Highlights have included residential trips, talent shows, whole-school assemblies, forest school activities, music evenings and a wealth of joyful learning across the school.

We are bidding farewell to our Year 6 cohort, who will move on to secondary education in September. Staff share their confidence that pupils will continue to flourish as they take on new opportunities and challenges. Best of luck Year 6!

We send our congratulations and very warmest wishes to Miss Rosie Wiltshire, who is getting married over the summer holidays and will come back to school in September as Mrs Gullis!

Several long-standing and valued members of staff are also departing. After 25 years at Corsham Primary, Mrs Vines is taking up a new role with Wiltshire Council’s School Effectiveness team. Miss Richards and Mrs Day are stepping back to spend more time with their young families, while Mrs Burton is taking a break from teaching for a while. We extend our best wishes to all as they begin their next chapters.

Earlier in the term, the school also said goodbye to Mrs Partridge, who began maternity leave in June. Staff and pupils look forward to meeting and having cuddles with the new arrival next term.

Looking ahead, Corsham Primary will welcome new staff members in September.  Mrs Laura Yeomans will be joining our teaching team.  In addition, Miss Organ will return to the school’s administration team after her maternity leave.

We wish all our families a restful and sunny summer break and look forward to welcoming everyone back in September.

Celebration of Our Work as the Military Hub School for North Wiltshire

The Visibility Project has been a truly uplifting, community-wide effort, one that reflects the compassion, dedication, and teamwork of every member of staff across our school. Together, we have strengthened two key principles of the Thriving Lives Toolkit — Children Are Heard and Staff Are Well Informed — by creating a school culture where military children feel seen, understood, and celebrated.

Across the year, our staff have achieved so much, and every step has been shaped by kindness, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to listening to our service families.

  • Increased visibility of service children through clearer communication, improved data tracking, and thoughtful pupil-voice opportunities that helped children share their experiences in safe, meaningful ways.
  • Strengthened pastoral support with reflective check-ins, wellbeing activities, and the nurturing Dandelion Lunchtime Club — a partnership with MOD Corsham that has become a treasured space for connection.
  • Deepened staff understanding of deployment cycles, mobility pressures, and emotional impacts through training and shared information systems which ensured every adult could offer consistent, empathetic support.
  • Enhanced community engagement by embracing the Month of the Military Child, embedding Little Troopers resources, and inviting families to share their stories, strengthening belonging across our whole community.
  • Built sustainability by reviewing and embedding new systems, partnerships, and resources so that this work continues long beyond the project year.

None of this would have been possible without the warmth, creativity, and dedication of our children, parents and staff. Their commitment has shaped a school environment where military children feel uplifted, understood, and proud of who they are.

A Joyful Finale

The project concluded with a celebration festival at Tidworth Garrison Theatre, a joyful gathering where service children’s achievements, resilience, and contributions were honoured. Certificates were awarded by key military guests and the Wiltshire Council Director of Education, a fitting tribute to the children, their families, and the staff who champion them every day.

Attendance

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the recently updated DfE School Attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

June attendance across both sites was 94.7%

June unauthorised absences across both sites was 1.35%

Number of late arrivals across both sites was 144 within register time and 49 after registers closed during June.

If you need to report your child's absence, please telephone and leave a message on the office answerphone giving the reason for absence.  This is important for our daily registers which must reflect accurately, why a child is not in school.  Also, if your child will not be attending school due to a planned event, please request a Leave of Absence form from the school office or find one at the bottom of our home page on the website.

First Aid and Head Bump Communication Home

We are fortunate to have a number of staff who are first aid trained. We have a First Aid Leader, who oversees all the children with medical conditions, prepares individual health care plans and communicates regularly with staff with any updates to those children. As well as a Lead First Aider, we have staff who are first aid trained and able to support our children with first aid issues and concerns, every day, both inside during lesson time and outdoors at break and lunchtime.

There are some communications that you would receive as parents and carers should your child receive any first aid.

Type of Care

Presenting

Communication

First Aid – fell over, bumped into someone and then fell over, nose bleed

A grazed knee following a fall, a nose bleed

A white first aid slip sent home with your child and your child will be wearing a first aid sticker.

Head Bump – cold compress to the site, checked regularly,

Bumped head

A yellow letter that comes home with your child, your child will have a head bump sticker and an email home

Each incident is dealt with individually and if there are any concerns at all, please be reassured that we will always telephone you to inform you.
