Welcome to our November edition

Message from Mrs Parker

Welcome back! We hope everyone had a wonderful half-term break and has returned refreshed and ready for a fun-filled term of learning.

As we move into a busy and exciting term, there is plenty to look forward to across the school, from Forest School sessions to Christmas performances and opportunities for parents to meet with teachers.

We are very sad to be saying goodbye to our site manager Mr Boros this month as he has secured another position nearer his home.  Mr Boros has made a tremendous contribution to our school in a short time and has been a hugely valued member of our team. We are incredibly grateful for everything he has given during his time with us and wish him well in his new job.

We have a number of Forest School sessions planned over the coming weeks, so please keep an eye on the website calendar to check when your child's class will be taking part.

Our Open Day/Evening will take place on Thursday 5 November, providing an opportunity for parents and carers to meet with their child's teacher and discuss learning and progress. Please note that appointments for 3TY will take place separately on Monday 9 November, and 3W appointments are on Wednesday 4 November.

Before we know it, preparations for our much-loved Christmas celebrations will be underway, with performances taking place in early December. We look forward to sharing these special occasions with you.

In the meantime, we continue to welcome prospective families and enjoy showing around parents whose children will be starting school in September 2027.

As the weather becomes increasingly wintry, please ensure that children bring a named coat, and, where appropriate, named hats, gloves and scarves to school each day. Labelling items helps us reunite lost property with its owner and prevents our already overflowing lost property collection from growing even larger!

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to another fantastic term together.

Osmington Bay Residential Trip

What a fantastic time our Year 6 children had at PGL Osmington Bay! The residential provided an unforgettable experience packed with exciting and challenging activities that encouraged the children to step outside their comfort zones, build resilience and work together as a team. From abseiling and climbing challenges to problem-solving activities and outdoor sea adventures, every day brought new opportunities for the children to demonstrate courage, determination and a positive attitude.

The children threw themselves into every experience with enthusiasm and were rewarded not only with a huge sense of achievement but also with plenty of fun along the way. The food was excellent, helping to keep everyone fuelled for the busy days ahead, although it is fair to say that sleep was sometimes in shorter supply than the activities!

Most importantly, our pupils represented the school wonderfully throughout the trip. Their behaviour, manners and support for one another were exemplary, and they received many compliments for the way they approached every challenge with maturity, kindness and respect.

A special thank you must go to the staff who gave up their time to make the trip possible and who looked after the children so well throughout the week. Their care, encouragement and tireless energy helped ensure that every child had a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience.

We are incredibly proud of all our Year 6 children and the way they embraced every aspect of the trip. The memories, friendships and confidence gained from the week will stay with them for many years to come.

Corsham Churches Foodbank

Corsham Churches Foodbank have thanked all our generous parents and carers for their harvest donations which will be used to help supply local families with food over the coming weeks.

Anti-Bullying Week

This year’s campaign, "Break the Silence", will encourage children, young people and adults across the UK to start conversations about bullying, speak up, listen and take action together.

The theme has been developed in collaboration with the anti-bullying sector and shaped directly by the voices of more than 200 children and young people, many of whom spoke about the silence that can surround bullying and the barriers young people face in asking for help.

Organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, which is coordinated by leading children’s charity the National Children’s Bureau, Anti-Bullying Week has become one of the largest children’s wellbeing campaigns in the UK, reaching an estimated 8 million children and young people and over 80% of schools each year.

We will be participating in Odd-Sock Day on Monday 16 November.  The day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage everyone to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!  (No requirement to donate any money - just enjoy the fun.)

Attendance

Corsham Primary School supports the principles, practice and procedures outlined in the recently updated DfE School Attendance document. We believe pupils can only take full advantage of their education by regular and punctual attendance at school to ensure continuity of learning.

October attendance across both sites was 96%

Unauthorised absences across both sites was 1.25%

Number of late arrivals across both sites was 0.6%

We would remind parents and carers how important it is for children to arrive at school on time, ready to begin their learning day calmly and positively.

If your child is absent, please telephone the school and leave a message on the office answerphone, clearly stating the reason for the absence. This is essential so that our daily registers are accurate and reflect why a child is not in school.

If your child will be absent due to a planned event, we ask that you complete a Leave of Absence form. These are available from the school office or can be found at the bottom of the home page on our website.

Thank you for your continued support with helping us keep our records accurate and ensuring the best start to the day for all our children.
