Being a Philosopher - Religious Education

Corsham Primary School believes that it is important for children to learn about the beliefs and values held by others. The acquisition of skills and attitudes developed through Religious Education are an important part of the development of children’s learning and are crucial for their lives as members of a multicultural society.

Religious Education is not simply just teaching religious faiths and beliefs, but giving children the opportunity of exploring the spiritual and moral dimensions of life in a safe, supportive environment.

Parents have a legal right to request for their children to be excluded from any part of Religious Education lessons. Any child who does not take part will be looked after by a Teaching Assistant or may join another class for the duration of the lesson. Parents must discuss this with the Heads of School before making a formal request.
